surgery day

Looks like it's time for some major surgery around here...

I love a little hand sewing once in a while.

Then when the hand sewing is done I can play with this...

isn't she beautiful?  I can't wait to get her downstairs to my work table and check her out good.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you everybody for your nice compliments on my Golden Woman.  I really appreciate the input especially now that I don't have a LYS full of peeps to share with.  I am still sad about that...

Crossing the finish line

my Golden version of the Travelling Woman shawl is finished.  Tilly the Torso was happy to model for me.

I'll give her a soak tonight and get her blocked in time for the closing ceremonies.

Thoughts?

almost finished

If you look closely at the chart you can see that I'm working the last row of my Golden Woman scarf.

I love how the yarn comes out of my Delicion yarn bowl, leaving a hollow in the center

Golden Woman looks a bit squinchee right now but once she's soaked and blocked I think she's going to be awesome

Boomer couldn't quite get in the bed the other morning...hope he made it the rest of the way in after I went out the door, he looks a bit uncomfortable, LOL

mini yarn crawl

So, I went to Holland today to look at a 1/2 size sewing machine that I thought I might like to have...no, it wasn't what I was looking for.  However, I did find two really nice yarn shops over there...

and of course I couldn't leave either one without a little something...

from Lizzie Ann's a skein of  Knit One Crochet Two Ty Dy sock yarn in color #1364,
and a Rowan brochure with some awesome sweaters...a knitter can always use a little inspiration right?

from Friends of Wool another skein of Ty Dy sock yarn in color #1745...cause a knitter always needs a couple more skeins of sock yarn!
Also picked up enough Berroco Comfort to make a Frog Prince, cause I just gotta have one of my very own.  I just don't want it in a size HUGE like the one I tested out a while ago with worsted weight yarn.  The Comfort is a DK weight and I think will crochet a nice size frog.

and I just have to say that the City of Holland certainly knows how to do things for visitors.  A public potty w/tissue and soap was a really nice touch - along with free parking.  Thanks!!!  I'll certainly be visiting again.

Now I think I'll throw on a sweatshirt and head to the basement.  The Saint is re-loading shells down there and I have a White Model 77 waiting for some tlc.  Don't look for me for the rest of the day, I'll be cleaning, oiling and adjusting til who-knows-when. Then tomorrow I'll be sewing quilt blocks all day...I hope.

Happy knitting!

Looky what I got

In commemoration of the 2010 Olympics Scout dyed up some super Swag and I managed to snag some of my very own...

in case you can't tell it's gold/silver/bronze just like the medals they're giving out in these two weeks of sporting spectacular.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out a little something special...I'll show you a picture if she comes home with me.

And this morning as I was heading out the door to go to work I saw this...

aren't they the cutest?

Golden Woman is growing pretty quickly, I should be able to get her finished by the time they extinguish that big torch...

Have a great weekend everybody!

Happy Valentine's Day

I've been playing today...with yarn, fabric and my camera.

Woke up to find this lovely gift on the dining table.  The Saint, he spoils me...there is another layer under the one you see...

Added a few rows to my Golden Woman, I think she'll be beautiful when finished, a project for Ravelympics

Pieced another block for our Romance Quilt.

The block is called Milkmaid Star, there are two versions, I think I like the other version better than this one but won't know for sure til I get the other one put together.

I so envy the photographic abilities of bloggers like Alicia and Jared.  Perhaps with more practice I'll get there.  I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to buy a better camera, LOL  Here is my best effort for today...

The Saint and I made an attempt to visit our favorite restaurant last night (of course we decided at 7pm that we would try it) 2 hour wait - hit our 2nd favorite and had a nice dinner that we didn't have to cook or clean-up.

Is there anything you've seen here that you'd like to know more about?  It is difficult to decide what to write here, seems like I need to focus on something but haven't figured out what.

If you're looking for a good read...The Help...is the best book I've read in many years!  Check it out.

It may be taking over

...I am lovin this blankie and I hope Cameron will too.

A busy week at Chez B and no signs of slowing down.  Sam isn't lovin his allergy shots but we're getting 'em done on schedule. Boomer is back to being Boomer again, I guess I'm too old to remember that I want to change his name, LOL Max is her old lazy self which is good since I would go insane with 3 crazy dogs around here!

Rena brought Winston over for knitting on Saturday and there was quite a competition for her lap.

it's funny how they were in almost the exact same positions last week when she was over knitting too.

The Saint poured his first home brew...and it was good.  On Sunday we did a taste test - The Saint's Brew vs another brand and I thought The Saint's Brew was better.  That other brand had a nasty aftertaste.

Why is it that they can be so still when they think somebody's fixin some food...
and might just drop some.

We're getting snow and a lot of wind.  I hope all my friends that got dumped on over the weekend are digging out and staying warm.  Looks like we'll be in for a couple of storms in the next week.  The way they talk on the tee vee you'd think they never saw snow before.  This is Michigan - Winter Wonderland - remember?!  geez

Thanks all of you for stopping in and leaving comments.  It's always good to know I'm not just talking to myself here, hehehe.  Have a safe, warm and wonderful week all.
