a new red sweater and a contest winner

Congratulations Shannon!  You're the lucky winner of the BSJ in celebration of my 300th post.  PM me and I'll make arrangements to get your prize to you.

Thank you to all of you who left comments on my contest post.  It's always nice to know why folks keep coming back here from time to time.  I appreciate all of you.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend.  I got an amazing amount of work done around home and today, during some horrendous thunderstorms I finished my version of Mr. Greenjeans.

I just need to find some nice buttons and re-do the "weave-in" that ended up right across the left breast.  Gah!  Can't let that stay there.  I'll be fixing that along with steam blocking the ribbing at the bottom.  I'm really please with the end result.  So pleased that I plan to rip out the yellow/green tank that I made last year with the same brand of yarn and use it to make another version of Mr. Greenjeans.

Hope you all have a great week.  Mine promises to be very busy.

LittleDog asked me to tell you all hey!
He was worn out from barking at the thunder today.  He gave a big yawn and headed off to bed a few minutes ago.

Skah-weeeeee!

Look what my very good friend Jennifer asked me to tune-up for her!

This is a Singer 221 also know as a Featherweight.  Isn't she cute?! I'm excited to get my hands on one of these even if it is only temporary.  Especially in this pale green.  All that I've seen on the bidding site have been beyond my budgetary constraints.  So I want to say thank you so much Jen.  I'm honored.

So here are some pretty roses for you...

My offering for Fiber Arts Friday is this...

100% pure LittleDog fiber.  He sheds about this much every day whenever I brush him.  I forgot the Zoom Groom on the deck the other day.  Last night we had a torrential downpour.  Today when I went looking for his Zoom Groom I found it with the fiber still on it which had been pounded down into something that looked much like a waffle.  I wonder if this stuff would felt?

It's been hot here this week, the flowers are blooming around the yard.  In addition to the pretty roses we've been enjoying these...
they're starting to fade a bit now.  By the end of the holiday weekend it will be time to cut the flower stalks off and just enjoy the greenery.  This is the same flower bed that I totally cleaned out two years ago because I had a pest in the Iris roots.  These all came up this year from the small pieces of root that I didn't manage to dig up and throw away.  Isn't Nature amazing?

LittleDog thinks so too, here's his amazed look...
a little skeptical looking, actually, don't you think?

Everyone have a great Memorial Weekend!  Don't forget today is the last day to enter the contest for that nice yarn and the BSJ pattern.

LittleDog goes to the vet

Hello everybody!  Don't forget to enter the contest to win pretty yarn and a nice pattern.  Contest is open til Friday, May 28th at 10pm.  Thank you to all of you who have left comments already.  It's great to hear what you all think about the blog.

A big Happy Birthday to my good friend Kim!

LittleDog and I had to take a trip to the vet this morning.  He spent most of the day yesterday spewing at random intervals.  He was feeling better by dinner time but I thought I'd better keep the appt I had made and get him a once-over.  He got a bath and got his harness on and off we went but he wasn't very happy at first...
We got salve for his crusty nose and cleaner for his cruddy ears, a toe nail trim and a couple of treats.  Vet says he's good-to-go!

When we got home I put a half dozen oatmeal cookies in the oven so The Saint and I could have some fresh.  Had to get them done before noon as it is gonna be another scorcher today here in W Mi.  It'll probably be another salad night at Chez B.  Too hot to cook on the stove.

Spent most of the day some time yesterday getting better acquainted with my 185k.  She's a super nice little machine and does a great job sewing quilt blocks together.  Can't show you what I'm working on at the moment as it is super top secret.  Here's a nice pic of the 185k though...
It's time to whip up some lunch now then I'll be spending some more time with her.  I've got more letter blocks to put together this afternoon

while I listen to the second part of my latest Audible download.  If you like graphic crime stories you should check out Stieg Larsson...he's awesome!  His third, and last, book is supposed to be available today.  I'm sad that he died and this will be the last book about Lizbeth Salandar...I think she's awesome.

Hope everybody has a great day today.  I'm sad I didn't get to participate in the Wonder Shearing today but I know I'll get down to Andrea's farm some time soon.  I'll bet there having a great time...

FAF...plants, painting & you can still get in on the prize

Don't forget to leave a message on this post for your chance to win a nice prize!

The yard has become lush and green...

it's time to get some planting done.  The local weather person says we aren't likely to get anymore frost.  Yes, I know the "gate" needs a coat of paint...it's on the list.

Today I'm having another day off work and I have a busy day planned.  Although it is currently raining. At 10 I'll be getting my do whipped hair cut and blown-dry.  Do NOT Google that phrase...it's not pretty, LOL   Stopping into the office (which is only about 6 blocks from the hair place) to pick up some red mucking boots from a co-worker.   Then I'll be ready for the Wonder Shearing on Tuesday.  Never know when you will encounter some Paca poo.  Now if I can just find my overalls.  Sam and LittleDog need a bath so sometime today that will have to be done. I'll be painting a large redwood tub that The Saint wants to grow some peppers in - he doesn't paint. I also want to stop in to check out a new LYS but maybe that won't happen til next weekend.

It's Fiber Arts Friday be sure to check out all the creative peeps that partipate in that Blog Carnival
My offering for the day is my progress on the doggie quilt...

Now to get a piece of fabric for the back and get it quilted.  Hope it's a good likeness but not too good, if you know what I mean.  Don't want it to break her heart.

The extra skein of yarn arrived from Jimmy Bean's Wool  today and looks exactly like the yarn I already had for Mr. Greenjeans.  phew!   Learning a valuable lesson...finally...choose the project first then get the yarn.  Seems like doing it the other way always means you don't have enough yarn.

Thanks so much to all of you who stop in and say hey.  Every one of you is greatly appreciated and it is so nice to hear what you like when you get here.  Have a great weekend!

ahh, smells like roses...doesn't it?!

Evenings at Chez B

If you haven't done it already be sure to enter the contest.  You have until Friday, May 28th to enter.

It's 8:30pm, I'm listening to Hoxton Handmade podcast and trying to catch up with my blog reading...

alas, my blog list has gotten so long I can't keep up.  There is an advantage to this sometimes as I can go to someone's blog I haven't visited in say 20 or 30 posts and catch up.  Like visiting and old friend that I haven't seen in awhile.

Tonight I even went back through some of my own posts from last November (I was looking for a specific post that showed my good friend ChickenLady in her Strawberry Shortcake pj's).  I love looking back through my old posts.  Reminds me how much fun we have here at Chez B.

The Saint is doing this...
 and LittleDog is doing this...
It's time for me to do some of this...
I know this photo is dark but like I said at the beginning...it's getting late and the light is fading.  Time to see The Saint off to work.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great evening.

Fiber Arts Friday...300th Post!

Can you believe this will be my 300th post?!  Sounds like a reason for a celebration...stay tuned for a giveaway sometime next week.

We're also celebrating The Saint's 60th birthday...it was officially yesterday but since he had to work last night we'll be going out for our favorite soup tonight...and maybe some cake.

While I'm thinking about what kind of contest we can have to celebrate #300 I'll show you my progress on Mr. Greenjeansclick to biggie-size photos

Not bad for 12 evening's worth of knitting?  I'm enjoying this project but hoping I don't run out of yarn.  I should be ok if I don't make the body too long.  Of course I can always opt for shorter sleeves than the pattern shows.  My arms are pretty short anyway so I should be good.

I've turned the heel and finished the gusset of my second watermelon sock so that should be finished this week.  There's a sewing machine patiently waiting for some tlc in the basement.  Hoping I get to that sometime tomorrow, first I have to take Sam to the vet; annual shots and some meds for his broken out skin.  Even though he's been on the allergy shots for a while he's not done with them yet and this spring pollen has taken it's toll on his fragile system.

It's Fiber Arts Friday so be sure to stop in and say hello to Andrea and all the gang that participates in the Blog Carnival.

I'll be enjoying a little staycation today and Monday...nothing like a long weekend!  Saturday is the Fiber Fiesta up in Greenville.  I'm pretty excited about it.  Lots of fiber and friends.

Hey, everybody have a great week.  LittleDog says be chill...

Inspiration

I am frequently reminded how inspiring simple things can be...

...a few dinner dishes sitting in the drainer in the early evening light.

I truly enjoy my assortment of FiestaWare and this is one example why.  You can get any number of random color combinations on any given day.  Some days they just make me smile and I have to get my camera to remember a particular combo.  This one would make a nice knitting project or a quilt.

What simple things inspire you?

Happy Mother's Day

Last night we had our Mother's Day celebration at a new local Asian restaurant.  I opted for the less theatrical table in the other room.  I am not a fan of flying food.  It was very yummy, I had the Massaman Curry w/Tofu and the company was great as always.  Thanks for a fun night!  you know who you are

It's been a lovely day.   The sun is shining, it's still a bit breezy and the temp is in the mid 50s.  A great day to stay inside, admire the sunshine and knit, or surf the net or make a nice pot roast dinner...that's what I've done today.

Mr. Greenjeans in Red is coming along nicely, I'm a couple inches farther than this picture shows but have to take a little break as a couple fingers on my right hand were going numb...not a good sign...too much purling I think...

LittleDog has been my faithful companion all day.  He likes to sit in the foot stool chair and look out the window.
I wish he'd learn to sew...

It's Friday let's have some fiber

Welcome to Fiber Arts Friday, Chez B edition.

Today we have a pair of socks in progress...

the beginning of Mr. Greenjeans - my red version

and an awesome Aldens DeLuxe 147B...I picked this beauty up Wednesday  night and can't wait to get her cleaned up and find out how that Button Hole feature works.

I think that pretty much covers all the ways I'm doing fiber this week.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.  Be sure to check out the other FAF bloggers who participate at  Wisdom Begins In Wonder.

LittleDog cracked me up the other night.  When I looked in the back room and saw him chillin, leaned up against The Saint's work boots.  Silly LittleDog!
