Busy, Busy, Busy...and a fabulous birthday

Happy Birthday to me!
Has your week been super crazy?  Have you stopped and taken stock of what you've accomplished during that crazy?  It may surprise you. At the end of each day I take stock.  I check my mental to-do list to be sure I've accomplished everything for the day.  I usually have a planning session while I'm in the shower in the morning.  When do you do your best planning?
My prize from Emily's stash!
It was my birthday on Tuesday, I was 55 shiver.  I'm officially out of the most desired demo in the media business.  I've not decided if that's good or bad.  I'm not sad about it though.  This past year has been one of the best of my life on the personal level.  My family is healthy and on the average, successful.  I have a great group of friends that share my passion for all things fiber.  The pooches are well.  And I'm still getting up and going to work every day.  Life is certainly good!  Thank you all for being a part of it.
On Monday evening I visited Grand Alpaca Co with Paula and the Woodland Weavers and Spinners. The Talbots have a beautiful place with amazing animals.  The alpacas all know their names, 150 alpacas, that's a lot of names.
Isn't she beautiful?
Tuesday, the big day, included a road trip to Howell, MI to check out The Spinning Loft.  We had a nice lunch at Mr. B's Rustic Tavern (thanks again Paula) then made a stop at Sticks and Strings in Lansing (super cute shop and real nice folks) on the way back home.  The picture at the top of today's post is the stuff I gave myself for my birthday.  I finished up the day hanging out with the GR Yarnies at A Grand Skein's Grand Opening.  It was great fun!

Mixed in with all this fun there was some knitting and spinning.  I'm on a headband knitting kick, 2 adult and 1 baby-size so far.  The first one...
and the spinning...

Have you taken stock of what you've accomplished his week?  Make a list it'll surprise you. No task is too small to make note of.  There could be a prize involved.  Winner could be announced next Fiber Arts Friday so you might have til then to tell me about your list-making habits - or lack thereof.

Be sure to visit Andrea's blog and see all the crafty peeps that join in celebrating Fiber Arts Friday.

My, oh my, I think you just out-fibered me ;-) Happy Birthday and glad it was such a wonderful week. The Talbots are very nice and I have to admit, I have never visited their farm but I know beautiful Alpacas come from there. Yes, I need to visit A Grand Skein. Super excited for another shop to be open.

Love the pictures of the Alpacas. They were so wonderful and just about mugged for the camera. Quite a haul for the week I would say.

Belated Happy Birthday! I really enjoyed the Facebook conversations about the curly hairs :-)

I do a lot of my project planning at night, Ravelry is a huge help, and I can just search patterns by the yarns in my stash.

BTW my sweater is yellow, I hope you make it too!

Looks like you had a great birthday - look at the lovely yarn! I also liked the alpaca pics.

I take stock of accomplishments all the time - I just don't publish most of them. :)

Happy Birthday! Sounds like it has been a great week for you. Cute photos of the alpacas. They know their names? I think all of mine think their name is "Damn it, don't spit on me."

Happy birthday! Sounds like the perfect day. Now I know where you found the alpaca! I actually posted almost the same theme as you for this week. And no task is too small...does that count napping??

Sounds like you had a grand B-day. I've been to the Talbots and usually all I can talk about is how much I love their barns. They have such a nice set up.

Hopeing to get to the Spinning Loft soon myself...I haven't seen the new shop.

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!!

Happy birthday...what a fun day!
I have a more 'global' approach to list-making. I have an 8&1/2 X 11-inch piece of card stock divided into large blocks. I write a day of the week at the top of each block and then write the projects that I hope to accomplish each day in the blocks.
As I finish them, I get to cross things off! (The most fun part!):)

Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had a terrific week.

Regarding the planning... for work, I generally make a list for the week and update it at the end of each day. Usually this allows me to let it go for the night. At home, I usually make a list for the weekend. But, I'm always planning (and organizing) not only is it my nature but it's also my job. ;-)
