FAF 10-14-11

Happy Fiber Arts Friday everybody!  I want to send a big thank you to Vivian for this beautiful necklace.  Isn't is stunning?  She also sent me this very nice birthday card...
LittleDog did not like the birthday card, at all.  When I showed it to him he growled then barked his head off.  When I laid it flat on the floor he would come sniff it and put his foot on it but as soon as I'd pick it up again and show it to him he'd start with the growling and barking again.  He just didn't get it I guess.

Pictured above with the beautiful necklace and the super scary card is the sock I finished while I was enjoying my day off lunch.  It's knit with Berroco Comfort Sock and it's my new favorite yarn, so very soft.  Several rows of the second sock were done before I headed home.

I had the most awesome day off , ran a few errands that needed to be done then I stopped at Panera Bread and had lunch and knit for 2 whole hours.  I listened to the end of Little Bee (which was a really good story) and enjoyed all that knitting time without LittleDog in my lap.

Also finished in the past week...the naughty socks.
This may be my only attempt at toe up with an afterthought heel socks.  Not a fan of the fit or look of these socks.  I may let these rest a while before tackling that technique again.  The bind off is too tight at the top of the cuff so I'll be taking that out and trying a different type of cast off in hopes it can be made more flexible.

On Sunday the GR Yarnies met at Via Verde Farm for spinning and alpaca petting.  It was so beautiful and peaceful that I really didn't want to leave when it was time.  Thank you, again, Tamara!
A week old  cria greeted us and the alpacas are so tame that strangers can pet them.

You could say it's been another full week here at Chez B.  We hope you all have had a full week too.  Thank you all so much for stopping in and saying hello.

Be sure to visit the other talented fiber peeps over on Andrea's blog.

Happy I Love Yarn Day!

I love the necklace Vivian sent you and the Kill Bill Socks are rockin. Stinks that the technique didn't work for you but they look great. I love the sock in the first photo too. Yes, I really need to get up to Tamara's farm one day. That cria is adorable.

What a fun post! I wish I had a group of people nearby to do fibery things with!! Your necklace is amazing, and I love both socks, but I can see that the fit is a little less streamlined on sock #2.

I can't blame him for barking, I don't like birthday cards either, like I need to be reminded how old I am.

Cute little cria! The alpacas look like they match the color in your necklace!

Thank you! I had a great time too. We will definitely do it again. I love LittleDog. Can you bring him to spinning some time?? Really. He is full of personality.

I am sorry I missed your bday. Happy one late..
Naughty socks are too cool. I am thinking about the tube sock that Paula mentioned. Toe up, down, over, across...too difficult for me!

Happy belated birthday!

Gretchen doesn't care for those cards either - assuming it made noises? Sissy is perplexed and curious, but Gretchen thinks they JUST. NEED. TO. GO!!!!!

Love the socks. I wonder if enough of you knit socks that make me wistful if my sock mojo might return?

You are lucky to have friends nearby who share your love of the fiber arts.

Nice job on the socks!

That necklace is gorgeous, lucky you :)

Loving all the socks, especially the colours in the yellow and black ones.

The image of your dog growling at the card made me laugh - I always find it funny when animals act like that :)

Awwww cute little cria. Beautiful necklace, too. I haven't heard of that Berocco sock yarn ... I shall have to find some and see if it's *really* that soft!

Bucky used to bark at pugs on the calendar, and of course dogs on TV. LittleDog is simply assuring his place in the house ;-)

The necklace looks like a good match for your new socks!

Ok, I love that little cria - where's the too cute button? And Littledog is very smart. :)

What a great package to get in the mail - good on you.

Oh, I'm so jealous! You had a day off?? ;-)

Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had a wonderful week. :-)

There are a couple of different bind offs that work for toe up-Judy's super stretchy bind off over @ Knitty is one.
Don't give up on toe-up. Socks a la carte 2 has some great heels and toes in it.
Happy belated birthday!

I love the sock, the pattern/colours are perfect! The necklace is gorgeous. Your dog sounds so funny.....though mine has been known to zone out at shiny things so I can't talk. Happy Belated Birthday!

Hey Caryn, thanks for the tip on the stretchy bind off, I'll be checking that out for sure.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

Happy Belated Birthday!

Your sock is gawjuss! I really have to get over my discomfort level with knitting socks.

I want to learn the two circs method but I think I need a class to see it done in person.

Thanks for popping by the fiber arts blog. I sent you an email about the ski mask.

Great pictures. I like your socks and you did better than I would on toe up I'm sure. I used to have a pug card like that on the side of my fridge. My pug Bell used to sit on a kitchen chair and growl at it. I finally took it down. It must be a pug thing!
