 Yes folks, after 3 years and 11 months the sweater was finally ready to be worn. Tonight they announced the winner of ArtPrize 2011.  A large mosaic of the crucifixion.  That I do not have a picture of.  I liked the artist's mosaic last year more.  That one took second place in ArtPrize 2010. With granddaughter Jasmine as co-pilot I drove out to Shady Side Farm for the sheep shearing this morning.  It was interesting, educational and a good lesson for Jasmine on where that beautifully fluffy fiber comes from.    (you can biggie-size all photos by clicking on them) There were several new lambs...  look closely - below and left of this ewe's chin is her lamb that was born this morning.

This evening I finished spinning the first 4 oz of the Ladies In Waiting merino from Counting Sheep Farm.  Here is the very full bobbin... I have spun and plied my first yarn.  I purchased 1/4 oz of Alpaca/angel hair/Merino dyed in Kool-Aid from Tamara of Via Verde Farm while attending the Quilt/Fiber Expo at the Coopersville Farm Museum back in the summertime.  I chose the fiber because it was pink and sparkly.  It was my first ever fiber for spinning purchase.  I used it to make this pretty yarn with my new Ashford Turkish Spindle

It's quiet in the house this morning.  The Saint is sleeping and so are two of three dogs.  If I sit here for at least 5 minutes the third (LittleDog) will be settled in and on his way to dreamland too.  First he has to make several spins, dig at the cushion to get it in exactly-the-right-place, then flop down and start snoring. I've been wanting this day to get here and yet not.  Will be glad

It's Friday already?!  I know there are a bunch of folks over at Wisdom Begins In Wonder that can't wait to tell you what they've been doing this week with fibery stuffs.  Be sure to give them a visit. Happy Friday everybody!  Thanks for coming back to see what's been happening around here.  Crazy days have passed with all the Art Prize goings-on.  There's also been fibery fun and even some fibery animals.  Last Saturday was Alpaca Farm Days and I visited two farms, one local and one not-so local.  I enjoyed both farms and got some spinning done too.  Lots of pictures so I hope you have fast

Art Prize has arrived in our fair city.  It's a big, 18 day art party.  I've walked more in the past 3 days than I have in the past year, I swear.  Lots of amazing things to see around Grand Rapids and I hope to see the bulk of them making the best of every spare minute I can find. My sweet daughter Rena brought me cupcakes and flowers for my birthday last Monday.  I love her.
